Tap & Talk (plugin type tap_and_talk) is a lightweight reaction-plus-reason format: respondents tap a concept image to register like/dislike, then record a short voice note explaining the tap. Unlike the other StorySync AI Qual types, it's not wizard-driven — it's configured directly in the properties panel's Settings tab.
What respondents see#
A concept image is displayed. The respondent taps the part of the image they like most (or dislike most, depending on phase), then records a voice note explaining why. They can be prompted to tap again for a "next" like/dislike, or tap a "Nothing Else" option to move on.
When to use it#
- Fast reaction-plus-reason capture on a single concept image — quicker to build than the full StorySync wizard when you don't need AI-generated probes.
- Ad or packaging reaction studies where a tap-then-explain gesture is more natural than typing.
- Studies with a single, simple stimulus rather than a multi-step guided story.
Configuring it in the builder#
Select the question and open the Settings tab in the properties panel — there's no wizard for this type. The concept image and instruction rich text are authored inline on the question card itself; Max taps per phase and max recording duration live in Settings; button/status text lives in a separate Messages (localized strings) panel.
- Concept image URL — supports piping and library upload.
- Like / dislike instruction rich text.
- Next-like / next-dislike follow-up instruction rich text, shown if the respondent taps again in the same phase.
- Max taps per phase and max recording duration.
- Messages — recording button labels, button color, and the "Nothing" / "Nothing Else" / "Recording…" status text.

Logic support#
Stores tap coordinates plus an open-ended voice/transcript response — condition operators are limited to Answered/Not answered. See Logic, Flow & Conditions.
Good to know#
- There's no AI moderator or auto-probing here — it's a simpler, fixed-script format compared to the wizard-driven StorySync types, which makes it faster to set up when you don't need adaptive follow-ups.
