Tap & Drag Rank is a Custom Interfaces plugin built on ranking — a touch-friendly alternative to classic drag-to-rank lists.
What respondents see#
Respondents first tap items to include them in their ranking — tapped items move into a ranked list — then drag to reorder that list. Items never tapped stay in an unranked pool, so a respondent can rank a subset without being forced to rank everything.
When to use it#
- Ranking studies where not every item is relevant to every respondent.
- Mobile experiences where traditional drag-to-rank is fiddly.
Configuring it in the builder#
Drag Tap & Drag Rank from the Custom Interfaces group in the question palette, or convert an existing ranking question. Items are authored the same way as standard ranking answer options. Plugin-specific behavior lives in the question's Settings tab.

Min and max selections are set from the question's standard Selection Limits control (Validation tab) — the plugin reads and mirrors those values, it has no separate min/max control of its own.

Built on ranking, so it supports the same rank-position condition operators as a standard ranking question. See Logic, Flow & Conditions.
Good to know#
- Partial ranking is allowed by design — respondents aren't forced to rank every item, unlike a standard ranking question.
