Guided Story With Video runs the same conversational flow as Guided Story, but the respondent records camera video instead of (or alongside) voice-only audio. It's wizard-driven.
What respondents see#
The same greeting-and-prompt flow as Guided Story, except the recording control captures video from the respondent's camera. Front- or rear-facing camera can be required by the researcher. A live transcript still appears as they talk, and they can re-record before continuing.
When to use it#
- Studies that want to see the respondent's face or environment while they answer, not just hear them.
- Emotional-reaction or body-language research where video adds a signal audio alone can't.
- Anywhere a standard Guided Story would work, but seeing the respondent matters.
Configuring it in the builder#
Drag Guided Story With Video from the StorySync AI Qual group onto your canvas — the same three-step wizard as Guided Story opens: Questions, Display Settings, Text for Alerts. Unlike the base Guided Story, this format has no separate stimulus-image/video block on the Questions step — only the Initial Instructions text and Sub-Questions (without per-question images). The one addition on Display Settings is a Select Camera Facing control (front or back).

Logic support#
Stores an open-ended (voice/video/transcript) response — condition operators are limited to Answered / Not answered. See Logic, Flow & Conditions.
Good to know#
- Camera access failures are handled the same way as microphone failures for regular Guided Story — the Mandatory/Optional error messages in Text for Alerts decide whether the respondent is blocked or falls back.
